What a weekend for the Modstox.

The Scottish weekend had everything. Big miles, hard racing, mechanical heartbreak, paddock teamwork, rollovers, last-minute repairs and, most importantly, the crowning of the first ever Modstox Scottish Champion.

The weekend started at Knockhill Trioval on Saturday 23 May 2026, with 15 cars racing in the Scottish Qualifying and National Qualifier meeting. Max Harding was the driver to beat early on, taking Heat 1 before going on to win the meeting final as well. Karl Brazier also made the long trip worthwhile, taking the Heat 2 win and showing strong pace all weekend.

Max’s Saturday performance was one of the standout stories of the weekend. He looked fast, controlled and well set for the Scottish Final on Sunday. With a heat win and final win at Knockhill, he looked every bit like one of the favourites heading into Cowdenbeath.

There was also plenty of hard luck in the pits. Newly crowned British Champion Adam Perkins had issues all day Saturday, with his engine deciding it no longer wanted to be part of the car. A huge effort went in throughout the day just to get the engine back in place and keep the weekend alive.

The Malt team also deserve credit. After Josh’s engine blew in the final at King’s Lynn, they managed to get another engine put together and fitted in under three days just to make the trip to Scotland. That is a serious effort and a credit to the team.

Unfortunately for 121 Josh Malt, the bad luck continued. Fueling issues caused problems in Heat 1 and Heat 2 at Knockhill, but he still managed to salvage a decent result in the meeting final, finishing 6th.

On Sunday, the action moved to Cowdenbeath Racewall for the Scottish Championship, with 14 cars racing and a new piece of Modstox history waiting to be made.

The racing was eventful from the start. Heidi Clark took Heat 1 in brilliant style, picking up her first ever Modstox win and doing it the hard way from blue. That was backed up by another strong drive in Heat 2, where she finished 3rd, before going on to take 2nd in the Scottish Final. A massive weekend for Heidi, who was definitely showing the boys how it is done.

Dan Baker took Heat 2 and would later become the biggest story of the weekend. He had already shown strong pace, but when the final came around, he was ready to take full advantage when others hit trouble.

The Scottish Final itself was full of drama. Max Harding started from pole and looked set to be the man to beat, but a half shaft failure ended his hopes. National Champion and gold roof James Faultless also suffered mechanical failure, with his engine blowing in the final. That meant two of the favourites were out before the halfway point.

With the door open, 291 Dan Baker came through to take the win and become the first ever Modstox Scottish Champion. A huge achievement and a brilliant moment for both Dan and the formula.

A massive shoutout also has to go to 46 Karl Brazier. After taking a win at Knockhill on Saturday, he finished 3rd in the Scottish Final on Sunday. That made all the miles from down south well worth the trip.

Josh Malt’s Sunday was another rollercoaster. In Heat 1, he found himself fighting hard for 4th with Paul Higgins before ending up on his roof. Thankfully, both drivers were okay. Josh strapped back in for Heat 2, but the car refused to start, with the roll later found to have damaged the wiring loom. Starting 9th in the Scottish Final, he still managed to fight his way through and battled Karl Brazier for 3rd before eventually finishing 4th.

Another person who deserves a proper mention is 512 James Bishop. James had a solid weekend on track, but he was also one of the heroes of the paddock. He became the number one mechanic for half the field, helping several drivers and even drivers from other formulas. Without 512, some people’s weekends would have been over before they had even started. A true credit to the formula.

After the weekend, Max Harding leads the National Championship points on 170, with James Faultless on 160, Adam Perkins on 131, Karl Brazier on 96 and Dan Billington rounding out the top five on 89.

In the grading points after Cowdenbeath, Max Harding leads on 181, followed by James Faultless on 165, Josh Malt on 138, Dan Baker on 125 and Adam Perkins on 116.

The Driver of the Year table still has Josh Malt out front on 366, with Heidi Clark now up to 244 and Dan Baker just behind on 243 after his Scottish Championship victory.

Overall, the Scottish weekend was a massive success for the Modstox. The racing was hard, the effort in the pits was unreal, and the atmosphere around the formula showed exactly why it continues to grow. Cars broke, teams battled on, drivers helped each other, and the paddock pulled together all weekend.

Congratulations to 291 Dan Baker, the first ever Modstox Scottish Champion.

A huge well done to Heidi Clark, Karl Brazier, Max Harding, James Faultless, James Bishop and every driver, mechanic and supporter who made the journey north.

We hope to return to Scotland next year. 🏁
